Performance Day Is Here!

Can you belive it, it’s the day of the performances!

We had a busy day last Thursday and yesterday running the whole play, and we were able to get into the theatre yesterday afternoon to rehearse with the set and costumes.

Good luck to everyone for their 3 performances today at 11.30, 1.30 and 7pm.  It’s going to be very busy but lots of fun.

Final Preparation

Today all the children came together as part of the final days of preparation for next Tuesday’s performances.  They worked so well and with great patience as they worked their way through the story slotting together all the parts they’ve been working on.  The designers were particularly patient while they watched the other groups and waited to see how they will join in with aspects of dance and music.

As part of the final preparation they are all learning a finale song which you can hear on the Music page.  Everyone can learn it, including the audience, as part of the finale to the show.

Behind the scenes Rachel has been working on the costumes and the team have had meetings with technical staff in order to make final preparation for the performance space which we move into on Monday.

Well done everyone and here’s to another great rehearsal day tomorrow.

Get Your Tickets!

Tickets for the final performances are going to be very limited and so if you want to make sure you get a seat you’ll need to get in touch with the school your linked to or get in touch with me as the Project Manager.

There will be two matinees so that all the other children in the classes that haven’t been involved can see their friends plus an evening performance for family and guests.

Teachers have all the details but here is the final invite/poster that has been delivered to all the schools.

Thank you to the Dramatists group for the poem and the Design group for the image.

Music Now On Blog

The music recorded from the groups sessions so far are now on the Music page – how great is that!

Listen to the music created in progress so you can hear how great it is as well as perhaps give ideas to the groups working on the dance, drama and design.

Maybe you can leave some comments for the music group so that they know what you think.

Writing sessions finished

On the Dramatists page there are details of the work created that has help to create and write the structure for our version.  Two children from every school came together on four occasions at Birmingham Hippodrome to work with artist Bobby Colvill.

The group talked about the story, created poems and moments using themselves to create still pictures.  Here are a few photographs.

Birmingham Hippodrome 1st visit

The first visit to the Birmingham Hippodrome was a huge success.  All the children and staff involved the project had a filled day: working with artists, seeing costumes, standing on the stage, meeting staff from BRB and then watching the production of Cinderella.  Phew!

Thank you to Birmingham Royal Ballet who allowed us to try on costumes and gave us an introduction to the story. Also a big thank you to Birmingham Hippodrome technical staff for helping with our trip onto the stage.
